Our Mission
"Unite the Ridgefield community by hosting a vibrant 4th of July celebration, fostering joy, connection, and traditions that honor the spirit of independence."
For over 100 years, Ridgefield has gathered to celebrate Independence Day with a parade, live music, food, and activities that bring neighbors together and welcome visitors from across the region.
What started as a small community gathering has grown into an event that draws more than 5,000 attendees each year, and it's run entirely by a passionate group of volunteers who love this town.
Meet the Committee
These dedicated community volunteers give their time and energy every year to make Ridgefield's celebration the best it can be.
Sandy Schill
Festival Director
Leads the entire celebration, overseeing all aspects of the event to ensure Ridgefield's Independence Day is memorable for every attendee.
Shelly Geiter
Parade Director
Coordinates all parade entries, staging, logistics, and rules to make the Grand Parade the spectacular centerpiece it has been for over a century.

Sponsor Coordinator
Cultivates relationships with local businesses and organizations who make this free community celebration possible through their generous support.

Treasurer
Manages the financial health of the committee, ensuring funds are allocated wisely across every element of the celebration.

Spreads the word about Ridgefield's 4th of July celebration through community outreach, social media, and local advertising partnerships.

Food Vendor Coordinator
Curates the diverse array of food vendors that keep festival-goers fueled throughout the day, coordinating permits, spacing, and setup.
Cassandra Cootz
Craft & General Vendor Coordinator
Manages the market of artisans, crafters, and local businesses who set up shop along the festival route each year.
Cecilia Koenig
Kids Activities Coordinator
Designs and runs the children's programming that makes the celebration a true family event, from wristband activities to the beloved pie eating contest.
Plus 16 additional committee members and approximately 100 volunteers supporting the event.
